Residential Care Residential Care facilities are a place that offer a more home-like experience for your elderly loved ones. Unlike your typical Assisted Living Facility, Board and Care facilities provide care for only a small group of seniors at a time to maintain their homely atmosphere. While private rooms can be available depending on the facility, some Board and Cares require residents to have roommates. Staff at home may assist residents with their daily needs, such as bathing, eating, medication, catheter care, toileting, oxygen, and other services depending on the care needed. Housekeeping services are provided as well, and all meals are enjoyed in a group dining room. While nursing and medical care are not offered in a Board and Care facility, Home Health Services and on Site Physician visits are offered, along with transportation services and planned activities. Many Board and Cares do specialize in meeting the needs of specific people, such as those with Alzheimer or other diseases. Every Board and Care is licensed as a RCFE, much like Assisted Living Facilities are in the state of California.
